Saints eye CCL Championship, battle one seed Oaks

THOUSAND OAKS, CA – After a thrilling wildcard game against the Orange County Riptide, the Arroyo Seco Saints (16-20) travel to Cal Lutheran University with a matchup against the Conejo Oaks (24-13).
The Saints come into this game after beating the Riptide in an 8-6 contest. The game saw four different lead changes throughout, but in the end, a four RBI game by Cody Turner (Lee) would help push the Saints over the top for a victory.
Other players for the Saints who earned an RBI were Trotter Enright (Long Beach State), Jackson Reed (Seattle), and Jax Ryan (Missouri State).
For the Oaks, they come into this game with an extra day off, due to earning the first seed in the California Collegiate League South Division, resulting in a bye.
They were able to claim the one seed with an 8-0 victory in their last game against the San Diego Bombers. Where four different Oaks’ batters had two hits in the game.
During the regular season, the Oaks have had their way with the Saints. With having a 6-1 record against Arroyo Seco and outscoring them 43-27. The only Saints win came back on June 17, with an 8-0 final score.
The players to watch for the Oaks today are Tyler Holley (Cal State Fullerton) who leads the team with four homeruns. Along with Devon Wilkes (Cal State Bakersfield) who leads the team in hits with 31, and Jacob Galloway (Oregon State) who is second on the team, behind Holley, in RBIs with 21.
The starting pitchers are set for today’s game. They will be Charlie Decker (Puget Sound) for the home team Conejo Oaks, and Danny Veloz (Hawaii) for the visiting Arroyo Seco Saints.
The winner of this game will advance to a best of three series for the 2025 CCL Championship. They will play the winner of the Walnut Creek Crawdads and Sonoma Stompers.
The Oaks are looking to go back to the CCL Championship to repeat as champions. While the Saints are looking to go back to the championship after losing it in 2023. The first pitch at Sparky Anderson Field is set for 4:30 p.m.
