Saints look to keep their red-hot offense going against the Philippines Baseball Group

PASADENA, CA — The trend through the first two games for the Arroyo Seco Saints (1-1) has been scoring at a high level. They look to keep their offense’s impressive scoring output going for game number three as they host the Philippines Baseball Group (2-1) at Jackie Robinson Field.

In both of their games so far, the Saints have scored eight or more runs. They have split their two opening matchups, losing one against the San Diego Waves on Friday 12-9 and winning the other against the MLB Academy Barons 8-1 on Saturday.

The Saints’ coaching staff were left wanting more out of their pitchers after their game against the Waves. However, the Saints’ pitchers turned it around on Saturday, forcing the Barons to have their only run of the game come in the first inning.

Throughout the game, the Saints pitchers posted 1-2-3 innings on three separate occasions.

Offensively, the major highlight of the Saints’ win against the Barons was a three-run home run by Noah Williams (Colorado State University Pueblo) in the bottom of the second inning to put the Saints up 4-1.

Another player that Saints fans should keep an eye on is Eli Lopez (Cal State Fullerton). In the first two games of the year, he tallied three hits and two RBIs.

The Philippines Baseball Group opened their season this past Monday against the San Diego Bombers and dominated; their 22-6 victory put the Bombers away in only eight innings. They went on to drop their next game against the Conejo Oaks 4-2 this past Friday.

Like the Saints, the Philippines are coming off a victory in which they scored eight runs. They were victorious against the Orange County Riptide on Saturday, winning 8-7.

So far this season for the Philippines, two players have stood out the most: Nomar Vazquez (Uncommitted) and Dylan Taguiam (Uncommitted). Both of them have combined for seven hits and five RBIs in their past two games.

Both teams are looking to contain their opponent’s offense in hopes of coming out of this one with a victory. The game is set to start at 6:05 p.m.
