New Season Means New Opportunites For Saints
PASADENA, CA – The Arroyo Seco Saints (0-0) are opening up their season by taking on the San Diego Waves (0-3) on Friday, June 6th at Jackie Robinson Field.
PASADENA, CA – The Arroyo Seco Saints (0-0) are opening up their season by taking on the San Diego Waves (0-3) on Friday, June 6th at Jackie Robinson Field.
The Saints are looking to make a statement with a home win to set their season up for success.
Last Season, the Saints dropped the series to the Waves 1-2, losing their final match up of the season 11-7.
The Saints are hoping to extend their season further than the South Division Championship. With a good group of new players and a couple returners, the Saints have goals for greatness for this season and utilize home field advantage with the majority of their matchups being home games.
Zachary Bender (Loyola Marimount University) will be on the rubber for the Saints. The righty had a steady season with LMU and is looking to bring a strong presence to the bump for the Saints.
Starting for the Waves is right handed pitcher Hunter Haase (South Western College) with an ERA of 0 to start off the season.
Junior and Hawaii native, Levi Maddela (University of Hawaii - Manoa), will return for the Saints in the outfield rather than at first base along with Junior Jacob Freer (Undecided) in the infield.
Aaron Milam, Occidental Tigers' Assistant Head Coach, will be leading the Saints once again on the coaching staff with Matt Stone and Fred Pudrith alongside him.
The Saints' season ended in the California Collegiate League South Division Championship after losing to Conejo Oaks 3-1. They finished fourth in the South Division with a record of 17-20.
The Saints have optimism for this upcoming season and in hopes to make it back to the CCL Championship.
