Saints set for rematch with Oaks
Arroyo Seco and Conejo both enter Sunday's matchup on losing streaks.
PASADENA, CA – The Arroyo Seco Saints (4-8) are set to face the Conejo Oaks (5-6) for the second time this season on June 21 at Jackie Robinson Memorial Field.
The last time these two teams went head-to-head, the Oaks came out on top, winning 9-4 at Ventura College. However, the Saints will enjoy home-field advantage in the rematch, potentially giving them the edge they need to get the job done.
Both teams are currently on losing streaks; the Saints have lost twice in a row to the Foresters, and the Oaks have lost all four games since their win against the Saints. It should be an exciting matchup, as both these teams are hungry for a win.
This past Wednesday, the Saints played their best game against the second-ranked Orange County Riptide (11-3), winning 8-3. The Oaks, meanwhile, lost 12-2 to the Riptide this Friday. The Saints must sharpen their pitching and rely on their gritty defense if they are going to gain momentum against the Oaks.
Saints starting pitcher Colin Caycedo has five strikeouts in his first four innings of the season. He'll need to be aware of Oaks star hitter Brandon Contreras, who has a .500 batting average, tied for the league lead.
Watch today's first pitch at 4:05 p.m. on the Saints' YouTube channel.
