The Saints are up against num. 2 ranked Oaks
PASADENA, CA – The Arroyo Seco Saints (13-17) are facing the Conejo Oaks (18-11-1) once again at Jackie Robinson Memorial Field on July 19 at 4:05 p.m.
The Saints are 2-3 against the Oaks this season, with the Oaks moving up the standings and now sitting at number two in the South CCL division. Each team has shown flashes of brilliance in past meetings, and tonight's game presents another opportunity to tip the series in the Saints' favor.
The Oaks enter today's game fresh off a tough loss to the Academy Barons (16-13), whom the Saints edged out 9-8 this past Tuesday.
The Saints, on the other hand, are riding high after a dominant 14-0 shutout win last night against the San Diego Bombers (5-14). Consistency on the mound was key, as the Saints saw season-high performances from pitchers Hudson Carvalho (Undecided), Zachary Bender (Loyola Marymount University), and Joey Parrish (Undecided). The pitching set the tone early and never let up, delivering one of the most complete games of the season.
Pitcher Thomas Peck (University of Nevada - Reno) will be starting for the Saints today. The last time Peck pitched against the Oaks, he threw for five innings and only allowed one run.
The Saints will need not only a stellar defense against this strong Oaks team but also an aggressive offense. Last night, the Saints stayed relentless at the plate, with every batter in the lineup recording a hit. If the Saints can bring that same energy and execution, they'll have a good shot at taking down one of the division's toughest opponents.
Tune in to this exciting matchup at 4:05 p.m. on our Saints' YouTube.
