Saints End 2026 Strong
PASADENA, CA – The Arroyo Seco Saints (18-18) concluded the 2026 season on a high, defeating the Academy Barons (18-16) 9-3 in an impressive final outing at Jackie Robinson Memorial Field.
The Saints showcased a dominant performance on the mound, with pitchers Christian Martinez (Undecided), Tyler Hawkins (Bucknell University), and Zach Bender (Loyola Marymount University) each delivering multiple scoreless innings.
The game kicked off with an explosive first inning. Owen Mangini's (University of Nevada - Reno) two-run RBI double to deep center field brought Brody Chyr (University of Nebraska) and Carson Panarisi (Cal State Los Angeles) home. Mangini's aggressive base running led him to steal third before Canon King (Undecided) hit a sacrifice fly for Mangini to score, putting the Saints ahead 3-0.
Today's game was catcher Dylan Garcia's (El Camino College) game. Garcia threw out two runners, was three for four at bat, had two RBI singles, and scored one run off Paul Lizzul's (Undecided) RBI double.
Dylan Garcia reflected on his performance, stating, "Today I was a lot more prepared." Garcia expressed how "all the guys are awesome. They're hyped to have me here… There was no pressure from the coaches, no pressure from the players, so it was easy to stay relaxed". Garcia stayed calm and consistent, leading him to a great contribution to the win.
In a dominant seventh inning, Zach Bender (Loyola Marymount University) took the mound and struck out two batters before securing a ground out to finish the inning. The Saints continued to pile on the runs.
The eighth inning highlight was Owen Mangini's powerful 392-foot, two-run home run, recorded at an impressive speed of 102 mph.
In the final inning, Joey Parrish (Undecided) took the mound for the Saints. Despite the Barons managing to score three runs, the Saints closed out the game with three consecutive strikeouts, sealing the victory at 9-3.
The Saints celebrated a successful season finale, showcasing their talent and teamwork. We wish good luck to all the teams in the CCL playoffs!!
